Four & Twenty Blackbirds

Growing up, Melissa and Emily Elsen watched their Grandmother roll out pie dough at their popular family-owned restaurant, Calico Kitchen, in Hecla, South Dakota. While they later pursued degrees in Finance and the Fine Arts, the sisters eventually settled in Brooklyn with the dream of opening NYC's best local pie shop.

Fast forward nearly a decade and we think it's safe to say "Mission Accomplished," as Four & Twenty Blackbirds is making some of the best pies (often with seasonal ingredients) found coast to coast. Listed on Travel & Leisure’s “America’s Best Pies,” Four & Twenty Blackbirds has earned immense praise from renowned food experts, including restaurateur Danny Meyer who serves their pies at his Shake Shack restaurants.
