Oahu's Award-Winning Calamansi Marmalade Baked Goods
Akiko White built Kailua's Aloha Bites around Tutu's Calamansi Marmalade, the Good Food Award winner made from her husband Scott's Hawaii family recipe. White won Best Designed Cake on Food Network's Cake Wars and calls her craft cakelustration, illustration worked in cake and sugar. She and Scott moved from Texas to Windward Oahu in 2019, building the bakery around miniature cupcakes and small-batch preserves.
Her marmalades keep collecting hardware: a Dalemain World Marmalade Awards bronze for Tutu's Calamansi, another for the Kualoa Ranch-grown Rangpur Lime, and a collaboration with Sam Choy on an ulu fry mix. Every jar leans on local ingredients and plant-based colors. Aloha Bites' island preserves and miniature cupcakes are shipped nationwide on Goldbelly.
