Claudio Cantore was born into a family of bakers in a small town in Italy’s Piedmont region. By 12, he was assisting his father at the Fratelli Cantore bakery, which today is still going strong after 100 years. When Claudio married and immigrated to San Francisco in 1974 with his wife Gayle, he mastered the art of producing exceptional sourdough bread while working at a local bakery. Over the years, he has made a big name for himself with his specialty breadsticks. Made in a variety of flavors with the prefect amount of crispness, Claudio’s breadsticks (aka “grissini” in Italian) conjure the amazing flavors of Torino in Piemonte, Italy, where they originated at the end of the 17th century.
