In a city like Miami, where Cubano sandwiches are dime-a-dozen, it takes a lot to stand apart from the pack. And Sanguich De Miami, which Rosa and Daniel Figueredo opened on Miami’s famed Calle Ocho in Little Havana in 2015, is doing just that, so much so that locals and in-the-know tourists line up out the door every day for a taste.

The secret to these spectacular sandwiches? Every element of the Cubano except for the cheese — from the cloudlike Cuban-style bread to the 24-hour marinated roasted mojo pork to the 7-day brined sweet city ham to the tangy mustard and pickles — is made in-house, from scratch, fresh daily. The attention to detail with this sandwich is simply astonishing, and when brushed with a little lard and pressed until hot and melty, with one bite you’ll understand why Sanguich De Miami has made Eater’s list of Miami’s 38 Essential Restaurants.
