These delectable sugar cookies are hand-rolled and hand-decorated by Laura and her staff each morning. Enzy’s cookies have a soft texture with a unique almond taste.
Laura Enzbrenner and her five sisters have been baking up Christmas cookies for over 30 years, and about 25 years ago she happened upon a recipe for a hand-rolled sugar cookie dough that she fell in love with. Laura spent lots of time perfecting the recipe (which ingeniously includes sour cream) and devising a creamy almond-flavored frosting, and the end result has put her on the map, with more than 5 million cookies baked to date. These creatively-decorated cookies have become a legendary must-try among those in-the-know at Dorothy Lane Market, a small chain of grocery stores based in Dayton, Ohio.
