My husband and I spent New Year’s Eve quarantined but we used to live in New Orleans and having gumbo reminded us of good times we had had.

Perfect delivery - the Commander’s Palace meal for 4, was the single best Thanksgiving dinner I didn’t make myself. I do not like American traditional stuffing. I’m not a huge fan of pecan pie…and boy did I ever receive my Come To Jesus and Clutch the Pearls moment upon first bite of each. Everybody’s stuffing comes out of an old box. “Just add celery, onion, water and margarine!” It’s apocalypse leavings food. The crud you find covered in mouse droppings at the back of the store, because nobody rotates that stuff…a quick dash of a towel; dust-free and ready for American Thanksgiving! Commander’s Palace stuffing is insanely delicious. The Andouille sausage and Tasso mixture blew my old lady support socks off, along with detecting actual bread pieces. Perfectly spiced to wake up your tongue, without slapping it. G.O.A.T. Pecan pie invariably is a hot mess of soft & slimy or brick-like, burnt pecans. It tastes of the tears of muppet babies concentrated with the God of Sugar’s diabetes. It has icky, soggy crust. ——————————————————— Commander’s Palace pecan pie: Oh, my…essence of almond; just a bare hint. Sturdy, tasty crust made with real butter - maybe some lard? I’m delighted! High quality pecans, neither under nor overcooked. Do I detect a LACK of sweetened, condensed milk? That stuff is the devil - never use it. Other stuff: turkey which good, but mine is better. ;) An outstanding gravy that my husband is jealously guarding with a meat fork. Don’t even think about it. The sublimity of utterly perfect whipped sweet potatoes…not too sweet. No &%¥) marshmallows, which need to be yeeted into the sun. I’m guarding the sweet potatoes with the gravy ladle…what? All in all an outstanding Thanksgiving dinner, which we were not even going to celebrate this year because of my advanced cancer. Thanks Goldbelly, for actually providing the Best of the Best instead of just claiming it. You continue to impress.

Everything! Our seafood gumbo from Commander's Palace was delivered the morning they said it would be, and the food was divine! Furthermore, it was supposed to be enough for 3-4, but the three of us only ate half the first night and made rice and ate the rest the next night, so we got two meals out of it. I've already ordered something else, from a different restaurant. This is fun.

I ordered the Commander’s Snapper Soup as a gift for my mom and grandmother. It delivered on time as scheduled directly to them for the holiday season. I read an article from Commanders Palace about the history and was quite intrigued. I am from the Philadelphia area so it was interesting to learn they’re being the second most known for such soup. My dearest friend in life was a nun from Louisiana and she often spoke of the soup. I wanted to buy something extra special for my mom and grandmother and treat them to the Louisiana version from Commander’s Palace and honor my dearest friend’s homeland.

The only difficult part of using Goldbelly is deciding what to order! Everything else is a breeze. Delivery was fast, food arrived partially frozen with clear instructions. And everything was delicious!

The Chocolate-covered Matzo crackers from Jacques Torres were equally outstanding! As my wife put it, this preparation made matzo very palatable. The dark chocolate was delicious and well-balanced.
